How accurate is a drone survey, really?
Vendors quote centimetres. Here is what actually determines the number, why check points matter more than the specification sheet, and how to read an accuracy statement critically.
DGCA-certified pilots · ISO 9001:2015 · Survey-grade deliverables in 72 hours
Guwahati, Assam · surveying across India
We fly drone surveys, photogrammetry, LiDAR and terrain models for construction, mining, infrastructure and agriculture projects. Every deliverable arrives with its control network, datum and measured residuals attached, so your engineer can check our work instead of taking it on trust.
Xorian Geospatial started in 2019 with a single mapping drone and one stubborn conviction: that most survey data in India was being collected slowly, at real risk to the people collecting it, and delivered in formats nobody downstream could actually use.
The founding team came from civil engineering and geospatial backgrounds rather than from aerial photography, and that shaped everything about how the company works. We were the people waiting on survey data, arguing about earthwork quantities and discovering design clashes on site. We built the company we wished had existed.
Certificates and insurance schedules are available on request before mobilisation.
Ten things we do, delivered end to end. We fly, process and check our own work rather than subcontracting the flying and passing on someone else's data.
Topographic and cadastral survey at a fraction of the time and cost
Turning overlapping imagery into measurable 3D geometry
Bare-earth terrain through vegetation, corridors and canopy
One seamless, distortion-free, measurable image of your entire site
Digital terrain and surface models your designers can build on
Defensible stockpile and earthwork quantities, month after month
A dated, measurable record of progress every single cycle
Multispectral crop intelligence at field and estate scale
Close visual inspection without scaffolding, rope access or shutdown
When the requirement does not fit a standard service
The same flight produces a different deliverable depending on who is opening it. A quantity surveyor needs volumes that reconcile with a bill; a highway engineer needs a corridor tied to chainage.
All industriesMost of what separates a usable survey from an expensive one happens off the drone. These are the parts we do not cut.
The team came from civil engineering and geospatial work. We understand what happens downstream of the deliverable because we used to be the ones waiting for it.
Check points withheld from the adjustment, residuals reported in all three axes, methodology documented. You get a number you can defend in a meeting.
From last flight to first deliverable, on standard scopes. Monitoring cycles are issued within 48 hours because progress data ages quickly.
LandXML that imports into Civil 3D first time, DWG with sane layer naming, GeoTIFF with the CRS embedded. Tested before it is sent.
Based in Guwahati with crews that know the terrain, the weather windows and the permissions landscape across Assam and the wider region.
Where your accuracy target cannot be met by the method you asked for, we say so at quote stage and propose something that will.
Five steps. The detail scales with the job, the sequence does not change.
We start with the decision the data has to support. That determines the accuracy target, which determines everything else - sensor, altitude, control density and cost.
Airspace cleared on Digital Sky, flight plan built to your target GSD, ground control designed, and a written risk assessment issued before anyone mobilises.
Control observed, automated missions flown in the right weather window, and coverage verified on site before the crew demobilises.
Block adjustment, classification and surface generation, then a two-person quality review against check points that never entered the adjustment.
Files in your formats through a secure link, a walkthrough call with your team, and 30 days of support on the dataset as standard.
“The baseline survey arrived four days after mobilisation and imported into Civil 3D without a single correction. That is not something we had experienced before with an aerial supplier.”
Tell us where it is and what the data has to support. If the job is a poor fit for a drone, we will tell you that too.
Need a formal quotation instead? Use the quote form - it asks for the details we need to price the job accurately.
Send us the site, the area and what the data has to support. We respond within one working day - and if the method you asked for will not hit your accuracy target, we will say so before you commit.
